	Helicopter Safety Part 2

Take time to review these safety procedures regarding helicopters. Remember it only takes one lapse of memory or inattention to detail to create an atmosphere for an accident.

The helicopter pilot is in complete charge of the aircraft at all times.

Passengers must report their personal weight and the weight of their baggage at sign-in for the operation.
Understand all pre-flight instructions of pilot or dispatcher before boarding.
Always approach and leave the helicopter in a crouched position so that your are below the rotor blades.
Always approach and leave the helicopter at a 90-degree angle, from the sides, and in view of the pilot.
Never walk near or under the tail boom of a helicopter.
Always beware of your position in relation to a moving rotor blade when loading or unloading.
Never approach a helicopter without the pilot’s knowledge when the rotor blades are running. Wait for a signal from the pilot.

Passengers never disembark a helicopter until instructed to do so by the pilot.

PFD’s are provided onboard and must be worn during flight. Keep all straps snug. When leaving the helicopter, remove the PFD and leave it on the seat.

Safety seat belts must be fastened before takeoff and remain fastened until pilot signals for you to leave the aircraft.

Always wear ear protection during flight. Use earplugs provided at the heliport, use the earphone style hearing protection, or use a combination of the two.

If something that you are carrying blows away from you, let it go! DO NOT chase after it.

Keep all personal items secured (caps, jackets, etc) until on board helicopter.
